Reynaers interest in sustainability is nothing new. We have always been at the forefront in the development of energy saving and sustainable products. For example, the integration of external sunblinds with our façade systems offers the possibility of controlling the energy efficiency of a building so that the use of energy-wasteful air- conditioning can be avoided. We are now looking at taking this a step further by integrating solar energy systems into façade systems..
And as an example of our commitment to environmentally friendly policies, our newest warehouse in Duffel, Belgium, features 3072 solar panels on the roof. The photovoltaic installation is the largest of its kind in Belgium and has a planned annual output of 500,000kWh, covering the entire energy needs of the warehouse. A traditional thermal power station with the same generating capacity would emit 280 tonnes of CO2 per year. And what’s more, electricity generated by the panels during weekends is fed into the municipal electricity grid.
